WhatsApp* protects users' correspondence with end-to-end encryption. Messages, calls, photos, and documents are encrypted on the sender's device and decrypted on the recipient's device. Therefore, even the messenger developers cannot read the contents of chats.
With such architecture, unlimited cloud synchronization, like in Telegram, is impossible. That's WhatsApp Number List why everything works differently in WhatsApp*: there are concepts of the main and linked devices. The main one is an Android or iPhone smartphone, to which up to four "auxiliary" devices are linked. Linked ones are other smartphones, computers, tablets, smart watches or sessions in the messenger's web interface .

Linked devices receive notifications and sync chat history even if the main smartphone is turned off or has no internet access. However, you will have to log into WhatsApp* from the main device at least once every 14 days - otherwise, the "auxiliary" devices will be disconnected from the account.
End-to-end encryption is maintained for all linked smartphones, tablets, and computers. But there are limitations: additional devices do not support the location function.
